The capital of Lassithi is Saint Nikolas (or just Saint for the locals) and is located on the west side of the bay of Mirabello. The name of the region comes from the Byzantine church, of the same name, which replaced the earlier name, Mantraki.
For forty years, thousands of visitors choose to go to Saint Nikolas and is among the most important international cosmopolitan resorts.
The visitors have the opportunity to choose among a plethora of activities from those are offered.
A stroll through the shops of Saint Nikolas is necessary. There are shops with traditional art products and replicas of objects from various museums.
Traditional weaving workshops and jewelry workshops are making their appearance, while the cafes, coffee shops and the taverns of the area are consistent with the charm of the other settlements.
