Holidays in Ilia are special:
The swim, in many places of the prefecture, where you meet thick sand and pine trees that reach the sea (Kilini, Caiaphas, Kourouta) is a real treat.
Olympia, a major resort of Caiaphas, and the coasts of Kyllini, impress the visitors. Thousands of tourists arrive during the summer to the beaches of Patras and Kyparissiakos gulfs.
Pirgos is the capital of the prefecture and is the administrative and the agricultural center.
Amaliada is the second largest city of Ilia, with well layout of streets and a green valley with olive trees, vineyards, citrus and greenhouses are stretched all around it.
Caiaphas and the resort are built on the island of Agia Ekaterini in the center of a small lake. The spa spirngs of the pine-clad area have been known since antiquity.
Kyllini is a historic seaside village. In antiquity there was a strong wall around it, with battlements and towers, of which, there are only ruins, nowadays.
Olympia is a village built near the famous archaeological site, in a landscape that enchants with its beauty and its tranquillity, in the lush valley between Alpheos and Kladeos rivers.
It is also worth visiting the Coubertin Monument and the ancient Theatre.
Very beautifull is the village of Zacharo and the seaside Katakolo village which is tourist developed.
Lechena is one of the richest and fertile areas of the perfecture and Labia (Divri) is one of the most beautiful villages.
If you visit the prefecture of Ilia, you can taste watermelons, melons, pickles, trout in Tripotama, frumenty, stuffed pork roll, which among many others, is the specialty of the region.
