In a short distance from the island of Paros, a beautiful and picturesque fishing place is waiting to be discovered. Welcome to the beautiful island of Antiparos ...
Clean waters, fresh fish and the two colours that dominate are blue and white, just a few words that characterize this wonderful site. The hospitality and the simplicity of the people is visible everywhere, in every alley, in every courtyard, in each traditional tavern.
The beaches are renowned for their clearness and the pellucid waters which vary depending on the tastes of their individual swimmer.
By car or by boat, discover paradise beaches that do not have anything to envy from the exotic beaches abroad.
Let's start from the north side of the island where we will find the Kaloudia. It is a sandy beach with shallow waters suitable for children.
On the south side of the harbour within walking distance are the Psaralykes. Three wonderful beaches, which are next to each other. The first Psaralyki has sand and clear waters and sun loungers, pedal boats and trees which protect you from the sun.
The second Psaralyki has two beach bars, sun loungers and volleyball field and is livelier than the first.
In the third Psaralyki, known also as Panagia beach, you will also come across crystal clear waters and the area consists of taverns and rental rooms.
Another holiday resort is Soros with thick sand and you can sit in its tavern after your swimming in the endless blue sea.
After Soros, heading west is the village of Agios Georgios. It has a picturesque harbour, clean beach, taverns with fresh fish and rental accommodation. From Agios Georgios one has the ability to go to Despotico by boat.
In Antiparos several events are organized over time, so before you prepare your bags, see the calendar. This is a unique experience that allows you to experience the traditions and the customs of the place and to enjoy yourselves. The most important feast is the celebration of Aghia Marina, which lasts three days from 15 to 17 of July. Other celebrations are on July 26 of Agia Paraskevi, on August 5th of Christ, on August 15 of the Virgin Mary, on August 26 of St. Fanourios, on September 8 of the Virgin Mary Revealed and several others, too.
In the traditional delicacies you can enjoy fresh grilled octopus with a companion of a "karafaki" (small pot) of local raki. Typical is the specialty "rooster patido" filled with fried giblets, bread crumbs, cheese and spices.
A walk through the labyrinthine streets of Antiparos is a unique experience. Warm colours of the picturesque shops are exposed left and right, original cafes and traditional taverns flood the air with wonderful aromas, giving the impression of a fabulous neighbourhood that you hardly want to leave.
In Antiparos you can find everything, but above all, you will find tranquillity and relaxation that rejuvenates from the first moment. |
