- Agios Dimitrios. A picturesque village
that extends over a green saddle that descends
to the sea. It took its name after the old monastery,
which gave its position during the late years
to the today's homonym, majestic metropolitan
church. Scattered in the vert, with remarkable
murals and temples, the churches of "Ai-Giannakis",
of Agios Georgios, of Panaga, and of Sotiras
with the homonym square. The village develops
to a tourist center, having a significant tourist
infrastructure that continuously develops. Following
the well preserved stone-built paths, the visitor
reaches the beach of Ai-Giannis.
- Ai-Giannis. Ai-Giannis, a real...Precursor of the Pelion
tourism, a small fish-village at one time, has
developed to a famous resort, being in a place
where the natural beauty is belauded, through
the amazing combination of the mountain with
the sea, bustles during summer with visitors.
It is about a resort with a high level of tourist
infrastructure, with an exemplary organization
of the units of provision of hospitality and
of the tourist shops, that cover the whole length
of the one side of the onshore road, exactly
beside the beach, covered elsewhere by pebble
and elsewhere by sand, which extends at the
feet of the whole dorp.
- Kissos. A village with the highest altitude of the villages
of the East Pelion, uniquely picturesque, plunged
into the gentle and wild vegetation of a gorgeous
landscape, hidden from the eyes of the unversed.
A proof of the old financial heyday of the village
and a well known sight, the triune and three-aisled
basilica church of Agia Marina, at the equally
beautiful square of the village. It is considered
as one of the best and most characteristic at
its species, this famous church was decorated
at the second half of the 18th century and by
the best carven temple of Pelion. It was also
decorated with holy paintings, high comedy figurations
as well as cool landscape paintings.
The temple of Agia Marina houses at one of its
chapels the ecclesiastic museum of the village,
where someone can see mostly old paintings and
ecclesiastic archive documents. Then, interesting
ecclesiastic monuments are the church of Agios
Efstathios, which is located higher than the
village and the folk styled temple of the old
church of Agios Konstantinos at the quarter
of Mavroutsa.
The visitor of Kissos isn't only charmed by
its beauties, but also by the integral provision
of services of the tourist units of the village.
- Mouresi. Mouresi, underpopulated and
buried inside the dense vert, beautiful and
especially practical village, with a wonderful
view towards Aegean, as well as towards its
neighbor villages (Kissos, Agios Dimitrios and
Ai-Giannis), it has many things to show to its
visitor, among which the excellent and shadowed
by three gigantic bass-woods square of its with
the metropolitan temple of Agia Triada.
- Papa
Nero. One of the remarkable beaches that
someone should visit is the one of "Papa
Nero". It is considered by many as one
of the most beautiful of Greece and not only.
It is located adjacent and south of the one
of Agios Ioannis, which someone can see by following
the onshore foot-walk. The visitor will find
a right hospitality at the accommodations, savory
spiciness at the restaurants and taverns and
gorgeous flowers from the gardens of the area.
- Anilio. A village-entrance at the area
of the Municipality of Mouresi, for the visitor
that follows the mountainous road through Chania.
Hidden behind the saddle of the mountain, Anilio
was probably named this way "because in
winter the sun almost doesn't get it".
The visitor here should visit the small picturesque
square, at which the church of Agios Athanasios
is found, a great ecclesiastic monument with
one of the best baroque carven temples of Pelion.
At the area flourished also several named monasteries
as Panagia ton Isodion, Agios Charalambos, Ipsosis
tou Timiou Stavrou and Agia Triada.
According to the local tradition, at the feet
of the village there was the ancient town Acclileio,
which was established by the same Homeric Achilles
while the Centaur Chiron had his "lair"
in the cave that exists at the sandy beach of
Banikas.
- Plaka. A gorgeous beach with clear crystal waters and
rich vegetation that reaches the edge of the
sandy beach is the one of Plaka. It is remarkable
here as well, besides the tourist services the
intervention of the female department of the
agricultural partnership, which advertises the
place through the traditional eating, sweats
and drinks of it.
- Xourichti. The village is found in
a green flat, from which the gorge of Koutra,
the deepest one of Pelion, begins. The wild
landscape causes fear to the visitor. The road
snakes and expands as a stone eyebrow till Xourichti,
the other one of the villages - entrances to
the Municipality of Mouresi. The artistic visitor
of the village should visit the picturesque
church of Kimisi tis Theotokou, a building probably
of the 17th century -which has been renovated
with interesting after Byzantine holy paintings
and a remarkable carven temple. The
nature lover visitor is worth crossing over
the old bridge, which binds Xourichti to Tsagarada.
- Limnionas. It is the beach of Xourichti
-it is a gorgeous and quiet beach, that hasn't
suffered yet the organized human interventions.
Here, the visitor will feel in their whole majesty,
the beauty and the calmness of the nature and
the sea.
