By car:
The best way to explore the island is by car so as to reach various places that the public transportation and the organized tours cannot reach.
By bus:
From Athens to the ports of Patra (9 hours) and Kylini (7 hours). From there there is coastal link with Kefalonia.
The local buses connect Argostoli with the villages and the rest areas of the island.

By ferry:
From Patra to Sami and from Kylini to Argostoli and Poros.
Also there is coastal link with Ithaka, Zakynthos and Lefkada, Aetoloakarnania and Paxoi.

There many organized day trips to various ports of Kefalonia so as to visit the beautiful beaches and areas of special beauty.
