Tourist Guide of Kos

The third largest island in the Dodecanese islands's complex, welcomes you and tours you to its beautiful places. Traditional villages with picturesque houses and shelters are exposed in the narrow alleys of the island while the temperate climate is filling the island with greenery and multitude of fragrant flowers.

The beautiful beaches with the clear water and the excellent tourist infrastructure have classified the island of Kos into one of the most popular destinations in Greece for tourism from all around the world. Its main feature, the combination of nobility and tradition, makes the island unique and separates it from the other islands of the Dodecanese islands and its special atmosphere exudes the romance and peace. During the summer months many tourists and organized groups arrive on the island in order to admire the beauty of the place.

Kos is a cosmopolitan island without losing anything from its picturesque nature and for the reason that is large in size and properly built, you will never feel you are "chocking" from the crowd.

The history of Kos - like most of the areas of Greece - is rich and so far some ancient monuments testify its ancient culture. Since the time of Hippocrates (460 BC), the greatest benefactor of medicine, until our days,  major findings have survived that they are worth learning their history.

The famous Asklipio, considered one of the long-lived sites of Kos. In ancient times, it was a sacred hospital and this one dates back from the 4th century BC. There, there are the Propylea, the temple of Asclepius, the Altar of Asklepius, some findings from the Temple of Apollo, and some traces of Hellenistic Stoa. You must visit the famous plane tree of Hippocrates, the Agora, the Temple of Hercules and many other interesting findings that emerge from the mists of time.

A romantic alternative choice is to visit the castle of the Knights dating back from the 14th century BC. In Antimachia there is a fairly well-preserved castle and in Pili there are some ruins from a Byzantine Castle.

Surely Kos is an island that takes time to someone to know it well since it lacks in nothing and seamlessly combines entertainment with fun and relaxing holiday. The flat and easy roads give you the opportunity to rent a bike and make your tour more fun.

The beaches of Kos are known for their purity and their good organization. Some of them that are worth visiting are Tingaki with sand and blue waters, sun beds and umbrellas, the beautiful Marmari, the Kardamena with the  large pebble beach, Mastihari, Paradisi, Agios Phocas, Psalidi, the Thermes and many other places equally beautiful and clean. For someone who looks something more than swimming there is also the opportunity to do water sports like jet ski, water ski, wind surfing, paragliding and more, in many organized beaches.

The island gives many options for entertainment that leave no time to visitor to feel bored. From luxurious restaurants, traditional tavernas and restaurants with traditional specialties to fast food, pizza restaurants and creperies. In the evening the seaside cafes and bars are in the lead and there are Clubs with Greek or foreign music for frantic fun until the early hours.

If you like walking, you can casually browse the small streets of the island and visit the souvenir shops with the traditional items.

Wherever you choose to stay you will get the best impression. The island has accommodation to suit all tastes and all requirements. Imposing luxury hotels and quaint accommodations promise you a wonderful and relaxing stay in the magnificent island of Kos.
