The best way to explore the island is to have your own car or to rent one while being on the island so as to reach places that the public transportation cannot reach.
By bus:
There is a long-distance bus that makes routes Asfendi - Zia, Tigaki, Marmari, Pyli, Mastichari, Antimacheia, Kardamaina, Kefalos.
Also there is a local bus that does the routes to Agios Fokas, Nea Alikarnassos, Messaria, Platani.
By train:
Blue train. Makes routes every one hour according to the working hours of Asklipeion Hospital while each route endures about 15 minutes. Starting point: Aktaion.
Green train. Does the round of the island. The route endures 20 minutes and the starting point is the City Hall.
By ship:
Kos is 200 nautic miles away from the port of Piraeus. There are regular routes every day that connect Kos with Piraeus.
By hydroplane or catamaran:
Hydroplanes make routes to Kalimnos, Leros, Patmos, Samos, Leipsoi, Agathonisi, Fournoi, Rhodes, Kos, Kos, Nisyros, Astipalea, Bathy, Pythagorio, Ikaria.

The nearest town is Antimacheia while the city of Kos is 27,5 klm away. You can reach the airport by car, by taxi or by bus.
There are regular flights from and towards Athens that endure 50 min.
