Events "Armata" of Spetses |
|
The many visitors, Greeks and foreigners, come to Spetses every September to attend the celebrations brilliant chariots, organized in memory of the naval battle of Spetses (8 September 1822).
In Spetses and in particular in the port of the island each year takes place the representation of the burning effigy of Turkish flagship. This representation takes place the first Saturday that follows agter the 8th of September, unless that date conficts with weekend time.
On the same day celebrates the Virgin Mary Armata and these events have the same name (Armata). The anniversary is celebrated for a week with rich and cultural events with well-known and credible artists.
The program of the events includes exhibitions of paintings, music, and dance (concerts, dance groups and traditional music, etc.) plays and reaches the peak of the representation of the naval battle with fireworks. |
