The best way to explore the island is by car. If you stay for a short time period then it is preferable to rent a car.

Vathy and Karlovasi are the main ports of Samos. The coastal link with Samos, Cyclades and Piraeus is daily while there is a link with the islands of South Aegean Sea and Dodecanesos.
Samos also connects daily with Kousandasi of Turkey almost the whole year.
There are air links with Athens, Thessaloniki, Rhodes, Chios, Mytilene and Lemnos. Also during the tourist period there are charter flights from various European countries like England, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland and all the Nordic countries.
