Beaches of Rhodes |
|
AGATHI: This beach is 38 km South East of the city of Rhodes
and 10 km from Lindos in a beautiful bay and is
very close to Haraki beach. (10 km of an, easy to
drive on, dirt road).
On this beach you can find umbrellas, deck chairs
and tuck shops from where you can buy refreshments
or snacks.
AGHIOS PAVLOS: 2 beaches
very close to Lindos. On the first beach you can
find deck-chairs and cantinas and on the second
one you get peace and quiet. It is a sandy beach
but there are some rocks from where you can enjoy
diving in the clear waters.
If you stay in Lindos you can walk there. This beach's
name was derived from a local myth which says that
St. Paul arrived to this place to teach Christians
around 43 b.c. Its 50 km away from the centre of
Rhodes.
ANTONY QUINN: This beach
is located in Vagies, a small, quiet bay, and it's
the most famous beach in Rhodes. The shooting of
the movie 'The Guns of Navarone' made this beach
famous and Antony Quinn, the star of this film,
gave his name to the beach.
Its one of the most beautiful beaches on the island
and is fairly close to the city of Rhodes (15km
south east) and even closer to Faliraki (3 km)
It is a rocky beach with clear waters and a small
deck which gives one access to small boats at the
wharf. You can also dive and admire the sea-life.
ASKLIPIO: A long beach
with clear waters very close to the settlement.
Nearby, you can find rooms to rent and many shops.
AFANDOU: Located at village Afandou, 22km from the city of
Rhodes.
With deep waters and not too many people, this beach
has everything.
You can enjoy a beach volley game and a beach soccer
game or a drink at one of many beach bars.
If you like golf you can enjoy a game at the golf
field of Rhodes.
VLYCHA: This beach is
mostly preferred by families and hotel residents
from around the beach because the waters are not
deep and the beach is long enough to serve thousands
of people even at peak season, which is August.
You will find umbrellas, deck chairs and tuck shops
on the beach.
GENNADI: This sandy beach
is located at the homonymous village. It is a very
large beach and you have the opportunity to choose
between being in the organized, crowded area or
a more secluded section just for you and your friends.
In Gennadi you can find hotels and rooms for rent.
It is 63 km from the city of Rhodes.
GLYSTRA: A quiet sandy
beach, where the colours green, from the shore,
and blue, from the sea, dominate. It's ideal for
people who want to enjoy their swim away from crowds
and yet have all the supplies for a relaxing and
pleasant day.
You can rent deck chairs and find refreshments and
snacks at the shop. Its 55km away from the city
of Rhodes.
GLYFADA: Crystal waters
and pine trees make up the landscape of this beach.
It's not very popular because it's quite windy but
it is certainly worth visiting.
It's
about 70 Km away from the city of Rhodes.
IALYSSOS: This is probably
one of the most organized beaches on the island
of Rhodes, with many hotels by the seashore and
many athletic foundations.
This beach is one of the surfers' favorites because
it is windy and the waters are quite deep.
This beach has everything: restaurants, mini markets
and cafes.
It is very close to the city of Rhodes (only 8km
away) and is one of the grater and most popular
resorts of the island.
It is definite must when visiting Rhodes.
IXIA: This beach is next to the centre of Rhodes, many
parts of it being accessible only to hotel residents.
With sport settlements and shops, this beach is
usually really crowded.
Ixia beach is also an ideal place for surfers because
of the wind.
KALATHOS: 4km of sand
and sea!
Parts of it are organized but locals also prefer
to swim there because even at peak season they can
always find a quiet spot.
You can find a room to rent, places to eat and super
markets.
It is 50 Km away from the city of Rhodes.
KALLITHEA: A wonderful
beach, with pine and palm trees, very close to the
city and ideal for a quick swim.
Kallithea beach is also well known for its thermal
springs.
Italians built the spa settlements, inspired by
the Arabs. They have been recently renovated and
are fully in use.
KIOTARI: A long, sandy
beach with umbrellas and deck chairs.
A great place for sea sports and taverns on the
beachside road where you can taste the excellent
cuisine.
It is 60km away from the city.
KOLYMBIA: Another well
organized sandy beach with umbrellas, deck chairs
and sea sports.
A quiet resort with not much of a night life.
25 km away from the city of Rhodes.
LADIKO: Small but beautiful
sandy beach with some rocks around. You can rent
umbrellas and deck chairs.
It's 15 km away from the city of Rhodes.
LINDOS: One of the most crowded beaches on the island right
in front of the homonymous resort. On the same bay
are two beaches with deck chairs, taverns and lots
of people.
The waters are crystal clean and not deep which
make it an ideal beach for children.
It's 50 km away from the city of Rhodes.
PEFKI: It's 56 km away
from the city of Rhodes and very close to Lindos.
This is why you will see many houses of residents
of Lindos.
It's a quiet place with small hotels and rooms to
rent.
On the small streets behind the beach you will find
cafes, restaurants and mini markets.
PRASONISI: Excellent sandy beach on the southern part of the
island. The structure of this beach gives you the
opportunity to be ableto
swim on one side no matter what the weather is like
on the other. This beach is a paradise on earth
for surfers because the wind is strong during the
summer especially in July and August.
On the beach you can rent all the necessary equipment
for surf, eat in the taverns or rent a room.
It's quite far from the city of Rhodes (92 km) and
Lindos (40 km) but it's a place that you must visit.
RHODES: It is a beach that is universally known and is definitely
one of the beaches that have been photographed more
than any other beach in Greece.
For many people is the most beautiful beach in all
of the Mediterranean.
Every year thousands of people (as well as famous
ones) visit it.
Rhodes beach is extended out of the town planning
and has everything to make your stay there pleasant
and relaxed.
STEGNA: Only half a mile
away from Archaggelos village, Stegna is an ideal
destination for locals and visitors.
There are few taverns and rooms where you can stay
and by the beach you can rent umbrellas, deck chairs
and enjoy the fun of sea sports.
It's 29 km away from the city of Rhodes.
TRAGANOU: It's 15 km
south east from the city of Rhodes and 4 km away
from Faliraki.
Most of this beach is not organized but in some
parts of it you can find umbrellas and deck chairs.
If you visit it don't forget to look for the cave
which is at the end of the beach.
TSAMBIKA: This is a beautiful
golden sandy beach 26 km south east of the city
of Rhodes.
You will find places for sea sports and shops for
snacks and refreshments.
North of the beach, on a great rock you will see
the miraculous monastery of Panagia Tsampika, from
whom the beach got its name.
FALIRAKI: Faliraki is universally famous for its night life
and has one of the most beautiful and well organized
beaches on the island.
The beach is almost 4 km long with lots of restaurants,
snack bars, cafes and if you like sea sports you
will find almost anything you want on this beach.
There are great hotel units and a wonderful water
park.
In the village you will find a variety of rooms
that can satisfy any kind of request.
Faliraki is 14 km south east of the city of Rhodes
and 10 km away from the airport.
FOURNI: A small, quiet
beach close to Monolithos with small rocks on it.
It's not organized so you may want to bring your
own umbrella, or you can find some shade near a
tree if you get too hot from the sun.
This beach is preferred by locals and tourists who
want peace and quiet.
CHARAKI: This beach is
mostly recommended to families.
Some parts are organized and you can rent umbrellas
and deck chairs or just sit on the sand.
There are some cafes and restaurants and if you
decide to stay there, there are various of rooms
for rent from which you can choose.
