Tourist Guide of Patmos |
|
Picturesque and altering landscape, deep marine division, white houses and dozens of churches offer an absolute quietness to Greek and foreign tourists who choose Patmos for their holidays.
Chora is a traditional village built around the monastery. The local people distinguish also the districts: Allotina, Magouri, Laura, Pezoula, Kritika, Apathiana.
The houses are white, built side by side, with tall windows. At Chora is worth visiting the Monastery of St. John the Theologian, the cave of the Apocalypse, the Patmiada School, the windmills, the Prophet Elijah and, of course, the churches.
The Grikos is a coastal tourist village in a small valley with much greenery. Do not forget to visit Petra and the chapel of St. John the Divine, which is built on parts of a Roman bath.
Near the village of Campos are the coastal settlements Lefkes and Skala - port of the island since antiquity- is the busiest of the island. Near Skala is the small settlement Agriolivado with the island of Agia Thecla in its entrance and the Petrokaravo that it seems like a tilt boat that followed by two smaller boats.
If you choose Patmos for your holiday, buy linens embroidery and try the sweet Pougi made with foil and almonds. |
