The island of contrasts and of harmony with the healthy climate and the ancient history, combines the low mountainous landscape with the deep marine division.
The settlements Platanos - Agia Marina - Panteli are united. There you can visit the flour-mill, the windmills, the churches, the mansions and the archaeological museum in Agia Marina.
The beaches Plakes of Agia Marina, Krithoni, Panteli and Vromolithos are suitable for swimming.
The picturesque village Alinda is found in the bight of Agia Marina in a lush green landscape.
Among Alinda and Agia Marina is the settlement Krithoni with beautiful houses and hotels.
Lakki is the main port of the island with imposing buildings and an excellent layout of a European city.
You can swim at the beaches Koulouki, Merikia, Kokina, Vromolithos and Vourlidia. The bay Xirokambos looks like harbor. The hills around are covered with stones and bushes.
Partheni village is found near the airport and is an historical and sacred place since ancient years.
In Leros you can try many local specialties, among them octopus on charcoal, Kakkavia (fish), salted mackerels, cheese etc. |
