|
It is a typical Cycladic island with rugged coastline and golden beaches.
The houses are white with tiled roofs. Chapels and windmills are scattered on the island, which is electrified by wind turbines and solar panels.
Chora or Mesaria is the capital of the island with narrow picturesque cobblestone streets, which are painted with lime. Apart from the churches and the monasteries, it is worth visiting the wind and photovoltaic park.
You can find an extensive sandy beach in the beautiful seaside Apokrousi village. Holiday villages are also AgKithnos DimitrKithnos, AgKithnos Stefanos - Lefkes, while the village of Dryopida is known for its celebrations and the carefree nature of the inhabitants.
The Loutra is famous for its thermal springs and is worth visiting the Kakavos, where the hot springs are bubbling, the Agrokipeio, which is an area full of cypress and eucalyptus trees and also the summer resort next to Loutra, the Skinari.
The Merichas is the harbour of the island with shops, a nice beach with fine sand and it is located near the resort of Martinakia.
The Panagia Kanala took its name from the church. This is a settlement thatconstantly grows and has breathtaking views and beautiful bays.
If you visit Kithnos, do not forget to eat siglino, kolopia, sfougata and to enjoy the delicious wines which are produced on the island.
