Tourist Guide of Kea |
|
Despite the strong residential and tourism development in the recent years, Kea satisfactorily maintains its traditional character.
Chora (or Ioulis) is the capital of the island and it is built on the side of the ancient city. A series of archaeological foundations of ancient, neoclassical buildings and churches and monasteries are the main sights.
Patron saint is St. Haralambos. On February 10 if you are in Chora it is worth attending the festival that takes place.
Also, the small picturesque fishing village Vourkari with it's quiet port has met rapid development of tourism in the recent years.
Korisia is the port of Kea in which you can admire ancient Korisia that is built up on the hills of Aghios Savvas and Aghia Triada.
The settlements of Koundouros and Otzias are appropriate for tourism and for your summer vacation.
In the bay of Pisses there is one of the most beautiful beaches with clear waters and fine sand. It is a very fertile village where the greengrocers of Kea choose to keep their "bostania" (melon fields). |
