The island of the sponge-divers with the long history that is visible at every step, offers to guests a quiet holiday.
Kalimnos or Pothia is the capital and the port of the island and is full of white or ocher houses, mansions, villas and traditional buildings. The waterfront is adorned with statues and at the port there is a school for divers, which continues the long tradition of the island in the sponge-fishery. It is worth visiting the castle of Hrysoherias, the Cave of the Seven Virgins, the monastery of Virgin Mary Hrysoheras, the Three Windmills, the Shipyard, the cutting sponges workshops, the cave Kefalas and the pretty seaside village Vlihadia.
In the background of the valley there is the green village Vathis in which you can visit the cave Daskalio, the caves Klastani and Tsigoura and the fortified monastery of Virgin Mary Kira Psili.
The Emporios is a quiet seaside village that is appropriate for a quiet vacation and for hiking.
Masouri is a resort, especially developed in recent years, from where you can easily reach the seaside village of Melitsaha.
Panormos is a green, holiday village with the beautiful beaches of Kantouni and Linaria.
The Horio is the old capital and the most important village of the island of Kalimnos!
