The island of Andros is the largest after Naxos island and is separated from the island of Evia by the Strait of Kafireas. It has a long maritime tradition, it is mostly rocky with beaches and mountain ranges to alternate with fertile plains and abundant waters.
Chora, the capital of the island, has impressive buildings, a big square with trees and a number of monuments that were constructed by its gifted residents. The ruined castle is one of the most important monuments of Chora.
Near Chora is worth visiting the villages of Livadia and Nimborio that have running waters, picturesque bridges and very lush vegetation.
Apikia is a green village with plenty of waters, where there is the source of Sariza.
Gavrio has a lot of tourists and during the summer months you can watch the "Gavriotika", a local event, and the festival of Agia Paraskevi on July 26 at Felos.
One of the finest landlocked islands of Andros is the lush Messaria. Near are the villages of Menites, which have impressive sources. In Messaria is worth visiting the cave "Chaos" in Aladino. .
Batsi has sandy beach and a small peninsula that creates a port. In the summer is full of tourists. The surrounding villages, Kato Aprovato and Katakilos, are lush and are worth visiting.
If you want to have fun, you have to visit the seaside village of Korfos Bay.
Paleopoli is the coastal village, where, near its shore, there are the ruins of the ancient Andros. It is also worth visiting the geometric village of Zagora.
