Elafonisi island is located near the southeastern point of Chania perfecture (and of Crete of course), almost 43 kilometers from Kastelli and about 75 km from the capital of the prefecture, Chania.

It is regarded as one of the most beautiful Greek regions - with white sand beaches that in many places get pink from the thousands of crushed shells that give a different look to the beach. The waters are crystal clear and the blue-green color will "bear" images of an exotic paradise.

Elafonisi is a small island just off the mainland, which you can cover on foot, because the narrow strip that "unites" it with the mainland has a very shallow depth (approximately 1 meter) and the distance is 100 meters.
It has also several small beaches on the south side where there are fewer visitors.

The beach has umbrellas, beach bar and watersports.
At the end of the road, before entering the beach, there is an ample parking space but during the summer season, is inadequate.

Plan to see up close the monastery of Chrisoskalitissa that is distinguished by far away, white, and built on a big rock.
The route you will follow from Chania, for your visit to Elafonissi, is Kastelli-Elos-Kefali- Elafonisi.

If you are in mood and "you feel like", you can follow, upon your return, the alternative route Kefali-Papadiana-Sfinari-Vryses-Platanos-Trachilos-Kastelli-Chania, which is longer but you will see a wonderful scenery along this route.
